In the geographical landscape concerning the use of 3D printing, Europe has experienced a reduction compared to 2016, when it registered 32,7% compared to 26,6% in 2017.

The Managing Director of X.0 Resources Accenture has his own theory: Maikel Van Verseveld declared that many potential customers, interested in 3D printing hesitate because most producers of 3D printers are small start ups, while the buyers are Big Companies, gigantic elephants, who want to do business with other gigantic elephants.

A rather imprecise statement since producers of all dimensions are present in the market of additive manufacturing: from the biggest to the smallest, form the oldest to the youngest.

Not only: when it comes to investing in additive manufacturing, what counts is not the size of production capacity of who sells the 3D printer, but the service that is offered, therefore the method of approach towards whoever is interested in this technology.

What then is the real problem behind the hesitations and fears of many entrepreneurs who would like to invest in 3D but…?

There are two problems:

1) Serious lack of information and training

Only one manufacturing company in five adopts a 3D printer, according to a research carried out by Rise University of Brescia.
