When this Italian politician opened his mouth, the industrial world shook

4 bright stars which will help you find your way in the dark forest of additive manufacturing so that you won’t invest your money badly

The crowd was jam-packed and in an uproar.

The politician had just walked on stage, waving his arms and shouting at the top of his voice, as usual, so he could be heard all the way to the back of the square.

With a self-satisfied smile he went into raptures and sang the praises of the new technology as if he had invented: 3D printing

His neck was swollen with the effort of shouting. Hearing about those miracles, the eyes of the audience were bright with joy. Little did they know that those unfeasible claims were all a load of drivel.

If up until now you thought that politicians lied only about politics, then you have yet to listen to this truth, which I will tell you in the next few lines:

The truth, which will bring you down to earth and will help you avoid a bad and disastrous investment for your future and the future of your company

Only one in five manufacturing companies takes up 3D printing, according to a research by Rise of Brescia University: why?

Simple, because many entrepreneurs, like you, have confused ideas on this subject.

The salesmen of standard 3D printers use vague language and they  do not explain, from A to Z, all there is to know about 3D printing.

Nobody wants to invest in  technology which they do not fully understand and which does not show a light at the end of the tunnel.

These articles should be like headlights which will guide you in the dark forest of additive manufacturing and:

1)warn you about the traps connected to this sector;

2)show you the short cuts making you gain time;

3)lead you by the hand to the exact hiding place of the treasure which will make you rich;

“Does 3D printing really make you rich?”

Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, the sports shoes company, declared that thanks to additive systems, the company increased its turnover by 13% in only one year.

Imagine what it would be like to have such an increase in your turnover, and how many luxuries you could buy for your family:

You children could go to a prestigious College.

Your wife could go to a spa and, at last, afford a complete fitness package.

At last, you could dedicate more time to improving your back-spin at golf and beat all your friends by training twice as much as them.

Even your associates, partners and employees will hold you in a higher esteem and have more faith in your capabilities.

Before becoming rich with 3D printing, you must be aware of the lies that generalist salesmen tell you:

1)to avoid investing in a 3D printer which does not produce the components you need, and which you will abandon in a corner to gather dust.

2)to avoid buying a 3D printer which will incur more costs than earnings and make your profit plummet to the ground.

Rather than lies, they are omissions and inaccuracies, so that you remain shrouded in a thick fog of doubts and perplexities.

These doubts have been embedded in your mind not only by generalist salesmen of 3D printers but also by public opinion and even by “illustrious” persons, such as a well-known Italian politician.

Mentioning no names:

Beppe Grillo, former leader of the 5 Star Movement, has spoken extensively in the Press about 3D printing, so much so that I cannot gloss over the subject or turn a blind eye.

This blog is not about politics, we are talking about 3D printing, in particular 3D printing for steel; in this instance, however,  I am forced to bring up politics, but only to shed a light on the dark forest of lies which surrounds additive systems.

The politician of the 5 Star Movement claims that, already more than four years ago, he was printing his son’s Pokemon in 3D – a prototype costing € 900 – using some plastic and downloading a file, the design of the “pocket monster”, from internet.

Here we have the first absurdity: the plastic used was not any normal plastic, but a particular type that cost € 60 per kilo. No doubt he would have saved a lot of money if he had bought a Pokemon in a shop instead of printing it!

Grillo tells a tall story about a “domestic” 3D printer and then he turns his attention to the industrial ones, but putting them all into one category, saying that : Today 3D printers cost 50,000 dollars”.

Another vague and inaccurate claim with the sole aim of scaremongering.

The cost of a 3D printer depends on different factors. Various types of 3D printers exist and they are classed by use, domestic or industrial production and by the material used in the printer such as metal or plastic.

Morevoer the costs which differentiate one 3D printer from another don’t end here: we must also consider maintenance, the salary of the operators, safety measures, the cost of material, the gas which the 3D printer uses, etc.

The variants are infinite and therefore only an estimate is possible, but nobody could ever quote a precise general cost without talking a load of rubbish.

Grillo goes on to distort truth even more when he says that in America 3D printers are available for every citizen in all municipalities, so that any American can print whatever he wants in 3D, free of charge, from a canoe to a set of false teeth.

It’s true that Obama made some small 3D printers available to a few libraries, which citizens could use to print objects, but paying for the cost of the material.

Obviously these 3D printers are small therefore it is impossible for anybody to print a canoe and take it home.

And certainly not a set of false teeth which initially need a mandibular cast, and expert technicians!

I know you are falling off your chair from laughing, but that is not the end of it.

Still on the subject of 3D printers available in  municipalities in America, according to Grilllo, you can print 100 square meter houses using this super technology.

“They build 100 square meter houses with this technology.”

The truth is that not even with massive 3D printers can we build entire houses, but only components which, together, will then make up a house. This experiment has been started by China where plastic is cheap.

It costs about 30,000 euro to produce prefabricated houses of 100 square meters in Europe, according to a research carried out by the Huffington Post,

The same house printed in 3D with plastic would cost around 75,000 euro.

Dear Mr Grillo, as you can see it is not economically viable to print houses in 3D, and American municipalities are not so foolhardy as to do it, as you say.

You can understand if someone is lying and when technology is going to catapult your company up to the stars or plunge it into a cold and icy pit

Being an expert of 3D printers for metals and specialized in steel, I will leave plastic and other materials to other blogs, and I will restrict the field to what I know like the back of my hand.

Here are 4 nonsense declarations which salesmen of 3D printers use to hook you, making you dry up your profit

1) One click and its done

when they want to show you that their 3D printer is extremely fast and can produce resistant, light and appealing components in an eyeblink,  generalist salesmen of 3D printers offer you a free trial sample.

This sample is presented as a perfect, clean and shiny specimen.

“Wow,  all I need do is start the printer and in a few hours my component is ready to be used! It’s magic!”

No it’s rubbish, because the component will never come out of the printer ready to use and perfectly formed, as you see it on the website of these wily salesmen.

To begin with, to print a metal component in 3D you probably need supports, which you will then have to remove manually.

Not only…you will have to smooth and polish it and remove the excess dust.

Therefore, click, click and money, money without any effort is a dream you can leave to the youngsters who upload videos on youtube and perhaps not even them.

You must include the post processing stage of the component in the time necessary to produce with a 3D printer. Particulary if you are working in the mechanical sector where every penny makes a difference.

2) Endless access to all the powders you want

There are over 150 metal powders on the market, and, in theory, you should be free to use all the ones you want and you need.

Too bad that, when you buy your standard 3D printer for metals you will be tied to one manufacturer, that is, the same company which sold you the machine, and who will present you with his limited catalogue with mind-boggling prices.

But you shouldn’t know this…

Generalist salesmen of 3D printers do not tell you that, in the 3D printer they you, they have installed a software and hardware block so that not all powders can be used.

Obviously this stunt has been pulled off to earn on recursive sales of materials necessary for printing.

The problem is not only that you are limited in choice and have to depend on your salesman, but the powder, in some cases, will cost you three times as much!

Powder bought directly from the manufacturer costs 50 euro per kg, while the powder you buy from your salesman will cost you 160 euro.

Let’s say you need 100 kg of metal powder to print a component:

If you buy directly from the manufacturer of powders you must pay: 5,000 euro.

If you buy from your salesman of standard 3D printers you must fork out: 16.000.

See what lies behind this nonsense? A ton of money which will be a weight on your turnover and will make your company sink, bit by bit.

3)Throw away the filter and sleep soundly

When you finish your printing cycle, you are left with the filter containing the excess metal powder, which is combustible and explosive, that is, it could explode in an enclosed environment where oxygen is present.

This means you certainly can’t just throw the filter in the rubbish bin.

Generalist salesmen of 3D printers tell you to put the filter in water to make it harmless; with this strategy you certainly do not risk an explosion but:

Metal powder + water creates a toxic and polluting mud which must be disposed of as dangerous waste.

Managing special waste means collaborating with a company specialized in this type of waste disposal: more problems to think about!

Moreoever, according to Intecent-ER of Emilia Romagna, the cost of waste disposal per kg, VAT included, is 1,4 euro.

Disposal of general metal waste however costs nothing.

4)You could cause deaths without even knowing

I will never stop repeating this: you must always ask your salesman of standard 3D printers which gas his printer uses.

To print with metal powders you need a gas but they are not all the same.

Take for example Argon and nitrogen: they are on two opposing planets.

Nitrogen is already present in 78,09% of the Earth’s atmosphere, therefore not only is it less harmful than Argon, but you can get it directly from the air present in the printing room, without buying it.

That’s right, it’s free!

Argon, on the other hand, is present only in 0,04% of the Earth’s atmosphere.

If your standard 3D printer works with Argon, therefore processes reactive powders like aluminum and titanium, then dig into your pockets and take a huge breath, because Argon costs like gold-plated  diamonds :

Argon costs € 0,90 per normal litre.

Nitrogen, through a generator which I provide together with my printer 3D4STEEL, extrapolates nitrogen directly from the air, therefore for free!

This was the good piece of news, while the terrible news is that Argon is a killer, an inert and very dangerous gas which pushes oxygen upwards and suffocates the operators without them even being aware.

It just needs even a tiny leak of Argon and two breaths too many of this gas and you will  be biting the dust!

You can imagine the strict and very detailed safety measures you will have to follow in your company.

You won’t sleep soundly: from one day to the next a small Argon leak could kill your operators, stain your criminal record and put you company in trouble.

Certainly no specialized technician will want to be hired by your company, seeing he risks his life.

After all these lies and bad news, I have a good piece of news for you, a solution:

The only solution which could throw a light on your doubts and solve these problems

The solution is a customized service created for you: the 3D4YOU method.

3D4YOU will take away all your doubts about additive systems and let you see, in real numbers, how much time you will take and how much it will cost to produce the components you want with this technology.

In particular, you will be given clarifications on a 3D printer which my customers have named the blue bear.

As well as being the only 3D printer in the world which has no software or hardware limitations, leaving you free to buy any type of powder you want.

Freedom of choice will make you save on the cost of powders spending 300% less; that money will cut production costs too and reduce your company expenses. You will bill more and spend less.

But there is more…

The blue bear is the only 3D printer specialized for steel in the world

What is special about this bear and why is it only for steel?

It is specialized only for steel because:

1)thanks to the exclusive system of recycling powders, the cleaning stage will not be so complicated or long and you will not run the serious risk of contamination.

You will save time in cleaning your machine: by reducing many days work to only one afternoon. Your production will not come to a standstill and you will not throw away money.

2)With steel you can use nitrogen and it is free! You won’t have to fork out even one cent because the blue bear exploits a generator which takes nitrogen from the atmosphere and uses it to print. More money saved which makes your cash register richer.

3)No Argon, therefore no deaths at work. You and your operators can sleep soundly;

4)Maximum performance! If you are interested in printing in 3D only for steel, why buy any 3D printer which would mean a needless multiplying of running  and supply costs?

You need a 3D printer which has been solely created to get the best results with the material you need the most.

With the blue bear:

1)the process of filter disposal will take away the bother of making the filter become dangerous waste; with 3D4STEEL patent, the filter is not immersed in water and you need  only throw it into the metal container you already have in the workplace.

No pollution and no risk of explosions!

2)a special dosage spatula which is faster, created to distribute the steel powder onto the printing plate

3) a method of salvage, inside the 3D printer, which allows 99% recycling of powders which can still be used; more money saved which will make you rich.

“Too good to be true, where’s the scam?”

There is no scam, in fact this is a guarantee, which if you miss, then, you will have ripped yourself off.

As a matter of fact, I don’t want to sell you the 3D printer without first being sure that the blue bear is suitable for your type of production and will make you save money and time.

That is why you will have a document with:

1)production costs

2)economic and financial costs

3)production time

Even before deciding whether to buy the 3D printer or not

I am the only manufacturer to offer 3D4YOU, a customized service which will take you backstage and see everything, including defects of the 3D printer I am selling;

I really am the only one, that is why I have many requests, but I can give detailed and meticulous  assistance to only 4 companies a month.

Only 4 companies a month.
